Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Laura McDonald White, age 77, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Upper Room Church Ministries with Rev. Justin Akers, Rev. Mark Akers, and Rev. Bobby White officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.

Mrs. White, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Morehouse General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a wonderful zest for life and family, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge on any subject that caught her interest. She was a very special lady who touched the lives of everyone she met and never met a stranger. Her greatest joy in life was serving the Lord and loving her family, especially the love of her life Virgil, her husband of 63 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Asa Hawthorne McDonald and Annie Laura Robertson McDonald; siblings, Henry Acie McDonald, Edwin Marshall McDonald, Mattie Emma Morgan, Joseph Webster McDonald, Audrey Mae Kennedy, John Dee McDonald; son-in-law, Bennie Gregory; grandsons, Cade Gregory, Clint Durr; and granddaughter-in-law, Christy Gregory.

Mrs. White is survived by her husband, L. Virgil White of Bastrop, LA; son, Virgil L. White of Monroe, LA; three daughters, Linda White Durr of Monroe, LA, Vicki White Gregory of Bastrop, LA, Barbara White Kesey of McMinnville, TN; brother, Robert James "R.J." McDonald of Bastrop, LA; sister, Rosie Lee McDonald Jones of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Neely Anne Wilkerson of Bastrop, LA, Wayland Ray Durr of Monroe, LA, Cody Gregory of Dyess AFB, TX, Marcus Thomas of Monroe, LA, Rodney Durr of WV; and great grandchildren, Emma Jewel Wilkerson, Stephen Tyler Tubbs, Paige Gregory, Hope Gregory, and Eliza Jolie Thomas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry White, Thomas Curtis, Robin White, George White, Curtis King, and Riley White.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons; Marcus Thomas, Wayland Durr, Cody Gregory and Tyler Tubbs.
