Mom was born to William and Lillie TILLERY-Wilburn. She attended the public schools of Wichita Falls and graduated, in 1940, from Booker T. Washington High School. In 1940 she married Rodgers Jackson and to their union six children were born (Peggy Joyce, Hernandez Rodgers, Gail Jeanette, Jacqueline Marie, Karen La Fon and Mark Anthony). She graduated from Bethania Hospital School of Nursing and attended Midwestern University School Nursing in 1961. Mom united with the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until her health confined her. She was an active member of Booker T. Washington Alumni Association.
