Emil Raymond Banderet was born August 8, 1910, to Louis and Louise (Cochet) Banderet in a farmhouse near Straubville, ND. That house is one of the three homes on the Banderet Ranch in Southwest Township today. He died in the Oakes Community Hospital on June 19, 2011, at the age of 100 years, 10 months, and 19 days.

Mr. Banderet was an active man with many talents. As a young man, he was a schoolteacher who taught in one-room schools with several grades in the Brampton area. Although more than 70 years ago, former students still praise his skills and pedagogical approach as a teacher. Later, he worked as an administrative clerk for the Department of Treasury and the Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC, Chicago, IL, Des Moines, IA, and Minneapolis, MN. In the late 1940s, he returned to ND and began farming near the current Banderet Ranch. Subsequently, he was active in the growth of the Banderet Ranch where he was a partner with a brother and his father and later with his two sons.

He had been active in civic and religious activities. He served several times as a Sunday School teacher. He was Chairman of the Sargent Central School Board and was involved in the consolidation of effort, resources, and facilities in Forman, ND in the 1960s. He was devoted to his wife Mable, to his family, and to his Lord. He was a loving, caring, and involved father; he lived his faith daily and was an exceptional example to others. He was passionate about information and knowledge and surprised many with his understanding and comprehension of phenomena and events even to the end of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mable Bandaret of Cogswell; two sons: Dr. Louis (Marilyn) Banderet of Milford, MA; Robert (Laurie) Banderet of Cogswell, ND; three brothers: Joffre Banderet of Freeport, IL; Raymond Banderet of Cogswell, ND; and Louie Banderet of Freeport, IL; five grandchildren: Paul Banderet of Northbridge, MA; Tanya Paixao of Worcester, MA; Susanne Banderet of Milford, MA; Brian Banderet of Forman, ND; Megan Banderet of Cogswell, ND; and two great grandsons: Trent Banderet Murphy of Milford, MA, and Ethan Paixao of Worcester, MA.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Lowell in 1987; and two brothers: Roger Banderet and Richard Banderet.
