Evelyn was born on April 14, 1929 in the town of Randolph, a daughter of Rev. John and Anna (De Vries) Voortman. She was a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. On December 19, 1947 she was united in marriage to Auke Douma in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Auke; son Larry Douma; grandson Eric; son-in-law, Rich Medema; two sisters, Dorothy (Clarence) Eisenga and Cora Mae (Newton) Eisenga; one brother John Voortman; in-laws, John Schaalma; Carl Posthuma; Gerrit (Marge) Douma; Clarence Douma; Alice Hoffman and good friends, Louis (Julia) Stiemsma.
