Steve Edward Gerrard was only 49 when he left this earthly life on Aug. 27,2000 to be with Heavenly Father & his son Jesus after a valiant battle with bone cancer.

Steve was born Oct. 11, 1950 In San Diego. He was the son of Stanley & Bethel Gerrard. He graduated High School in 1969, and lived in the Fox Lake area on, and off for 8 years.

Steve loved his work and always commented that he was loved looking up from his computer to watch the deer in the surrounding field.

Steve was had a phenomenal gift and it showed in his favorite hobby, Leather craft. Many people, including myself still enjoy the remarkable talent he had.

(I was good at it myself, but Steve made me look like a rookie! And I'd get 1st Place Ribbons at the Fair when I was in 4-H for the Leather craft items I'd bring in, but I shudder at how low my ribbon would have been if Steve had been at the same County Fair!)

Steve got interested in computers when they first came out, and he was VERY good. There was nothing he couldn't make a computer do. Steve was much smarter than even I am with them. Makes me wonder what he could have done with today's technology.

Steve will always be remembered by his family and friends for his love of life, the love he had for his family, friends and his constant concern for their well being. His quick wit, & the ability he had of being able to look life straight in the eye, no matter what, is something I'll always admire about him. He could always find the "good" in people and he could bring it out.

Even with the raging pain from the bone cancer that was all through his body by that time, he was still concerned with what was happening with Family and close friends.

In fact Steve called me that last night he was alive just to say good luck, good bye and we'll meet on the other side.

When he passed, many friends were at his bedside.

Steve left behind two daughters, Wendi Mae, Jessica and one son, Josh. He was further survived by two grandchildren, Haily @ Aliisa Horne, a niece Shamae of Denver, Co & three close friends, Paul Haurtlaub of Milwaukee and Paul Nickolai of Oshkosh. His parent preceded him in death.

Steve's Funeral Service was held at the Friesland Reformed Christian Church with Pastor Ron Van Der Werff officiating.

Steve was buried right after the Service there in the Friesland Cemetery.

I know many of us still think of Steve daily.

"Behold it has been known of an Angel, that the spirits of all Men, whether they be good or evil are taken home to that God that gave him life. And it shall come to pass that the spirits of those who are Righteous are received into a state of paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all care, and sorrow.
