Cousin James was born to the union of Pompie, Jr. & Gussie Mae Todd-Tripp. When he was six weeks old, the family moved to Atlanta, where he grew up & received his public school education. He graduated from Archer High School in 1961 & later served two years in the U.S. Army. On May 2, 1969 he married Juanita Broomfield & they had one daughter, Tracy Bernita. He died unexpectedly during a tonsillectomy surgical mishap.
