He was educated in the public schools of Gilmer (Upshur County), Texas.
Mr. Cash was married to the former Emma Smothers, who proceded him in death. Three sons were born to this union, all of whom preceded him in death.
Deacon Cash was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church which is now the Good Street Baptist Church. He was a faithful member until his health failed.
Mr. Cash was a retired Pullman Porter with more than forty years of service . He was a Prince Hall Mason, a member of Good Street Baptist Lodge #182 and Dale Consistory #31.
He leaves to mourn his passing: one grandson, Edwin; two grand daughters, Ethlyn Cash and Brenda Cooper; two great grand daughters, Sherrie Lynn Cash and Stephanie Cash; one daughter-in-law, MERITA [JACKSON] CASH; grand daughter in-law, Maxine L. Cash; one niece, Mead Hawkins; one nephew, Curtis Evans; and a host of other loving relatives and devoted friends.
