Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery Thursday at 10 a.m. for Taft resident Vance Arthur Webb, 86. The Rev. Keith will officiate at the services. Mr. Webb was born in St. Edward, Neb., on Sept. 31. He had lived in Taft since 1927. He served as 4th District Supervisor, County of Kern, for 24 years. As supervisor he was instrumental in getting the State Water Project through. Lake Webb at the Buena Vista Aquatic Area was named after Mr. Webb. He was a past president of the State Supervisors Association and past president of the National Association of County Officials. Mr. Webb was active in many church and civic organizations. He was a 75 year plus member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Taft Elks Lodge #1427 B.P.O.E. serving as exalted ruler and the Taft Midway Lodge #426 F&AM. His survivors include his wife, Nettie Webb, a daughter and her husband, a son and his wife, a sister, his grandchildren and their spouses, his great grandchildren, and other members of the family. Friends may call at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Wednesday from noon until 8:30 p.m. to pay respects
