Rev Alvah Sperry

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn, Jan. 5 -- (Spe-
cial.) -- Rev. Alvah Sperry, aged nearly 84 years, died at Stewart's Ferry yesterday. He had been a minister of the Missionary Baptist church since December 5 1858. He married Lucinda J. Wright February 2 1856, by whom he had six children, two of whom survive him -- Mrs. Mack Ellis and Willie Sperry of Stewart's Ferry. His wife also survives him. For a number of years he taught school.

Originally buried in Sperry Cemetery, located on the old Sperry home place, on Alva Sperry Rd off Stewart's Ferry Rd. Removed to Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens, Cemetery #101 (Sperry) in 1960's- due to building of Percy Priest Lake.
