Mary M. Roehl Dirks' Mother Magdalena Yost-Roehl died Easter morning when Mary was @ 18. Mary married Theodore Dircks and they had Catherine, Peter, William, Harry, Mayme, Clara, Ted Jr. & Hilda in New Market, MN. After Mary & Theo's parents passed on they left for Hinton, Oklahoma in 1906. Their last child, Henry, was born there. By 1908, Catherine & Peter had died (typhoid & appendicitis) so GGpa & GGma moved their family to Nazareth, Tx., later moving the bodies of their 2 oldest children to the cemetery there at Holy Family Parish. GGma Mary was an English teacher and midwife, birthing many of the children in Nazareth, whose birthdates she could recall for most of her life. She loved letters and cards coming from all directions from family and friends after they moved to German-town Fredericksburg, Tx. in the early 1930s, especially at Christmas. She wrote to my Mom from 1935 'til she died in 1961, usually monthly. I still have those letters.
