Garold L. "Jerry" McClain,84,of Sioux City died Wednesday,Aug 28,2002,at his residence.Services will be 10:30a.m.Tuesday at Westlawn Presbyterian Church in Sioux city,with Rev.Emory VanGerpen officiating.Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.Visitation will be 3 to 8p.m.Monday,with family present 6 - 8p.m.,at Meyer Brother Colonial Chapel.Mr.McClain was born Oct.30,1917,in Long Pine,Neb.,the son of Harry L. and Harriet(Malia)McClain.He came to Sioux City as a child and lived most his life in Sioux City.He graduated from Central High School in 1937.He married Virginia N.Myers on Nov. 30,1939,in Sioux City.He served in the U.S.Army from Sept. 1940- Oct. 1945.He served in the Pacific Thearter and saw action in Okinawa,Tarawa and Sipan.He was in the stationery business for many years and was sales manager of Perkins Bros.Stationery.He later retired from Sioux City Stationery.He was a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee,Elder,Deacon and Sunday Schoolsuperintendent.In 1966 and 1967,he was president of United Churchmen of Sioux City.he was a member of the V.F.W.Sgt.Floyd Post 1973.Survivors include his wife,Virginia of Sioux City;two sons and their wifes,Michael D. and Diane S.McClain of Lincoln,Neb.,and the Rev.Timothy and Carol McClain of Hickman,Neb.;a daughter and her husband,Kimberly and Scott McCormick of Sioux City;a sister Carol Moore of Florida;and four grandchildren,Ryan M.McClain,Eden McClain,Noah McClain and Alicia McCormick.He preceded in death by four brothers.
