Arvid G. Anderstrom, 84, of 36 Alvin St., Springfield, retired firefighter, died Saturday in Holyoke Soldiers Home, Holyoke. He was a firefighter 45 years for the Springfield Fire Department, retiring in 1962. Born in Holyoke, he lived in this city 62 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21, Massachusetts Retired Police and Firefighters Association, Springfield Fire Department Privates Club, the Massachusetts Permanent Firefighters Association, and the Springfield Golden Agers. He leaves his wife, the former Rose C. Sears; a son, Edward A. of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday morning at T. P. Sampson Co. Liberty Street Parlors with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Holyoke. Donations to the charity of one's choice.
