Ivan King Rites Slated Thursday

H. Ivan King, 68, 1900 Meadowbrook, died Tuesday morning in Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. The son of Henry and Maggie King, he was born Dec. 21, 1912 in Stillwater.

King was educated in Stillwater and attended Oklahoma State University. As a young man, he worked for a grocery store and Hoke Lumber Co. in Stillwater.

On July 10, 1938, he and Vacie Elliott were married in Sapulpa. The couple moved to Ponca City and he worked for Baughman Lumber Co. King later went into business as a building and cement contractor, retiring in 1979 after 30 years.

A member of Masonic Lodge No. 83 AF&AM, King also belonged to First Christian Church and the men's Sunday School class, the Chamber of Commerce and Kay County Shrine Club of Akdar Temple. He was fond of golfing.

Surviving are his wife of the home, a daughter, Kathleen King of Tulsa; a brother, David King of Tulsa, and a sister, Mrs. Hartwell (Lavinia) Davis. Flint Mich. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Maggie May King who died Sept. 30, 1981.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Christian Church with Dr. Bill Masters officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Memorials have been established to the Cancer Fund and the Diabetes Foundation. Contributions may be made in his name at First National Bank.
