Orin Orlando Ward born 15 February 1872 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was one of 7 children of Mahlon James WARD and Francis Emily ROBERTS. He married 25 October 1890 in Springfield, Greene co., Missouri, Elizabeth (Lizzie) FIELDS, the daughter of William Russell FIELDS and Mary DELAWDER. He and Lizzie WARD had seven sons and a daughter, Nellie who died at age three. Orin died December 24, 1949, at the Erickson Home of Brookings, SD, after suffered a light stroke which proved fatal, at age 77. He was buried in the family lot at Greenwood Cemetery, Brookings, SD. He farmed near white and Brookings for twenty years, then moved to Brookings where his wife, Lizzie died December 6, 1928. Following her death, he lived alone until in 1946 when, due to impaired hearing and sight, he could no longer be alone and went to the Erickson Home. Orin's niece, Mrs William (Pearl) THOMPSON of DeSmet (daughter of Zophar WARD) came to Brookings for the his funeral.

* William "Walter" Ward lived at the VA Medical Center in Ft Meade, SD from age 52, for 15 years until he died there Oct 17, 1960 at age 67.
* James "Earl" WARD died Jan. 1, 1968 in Brookings, SD at age 71.
* Theodore WARD died November 1983 in Missoula, Montana at age 80, the husband of Lillian.
