Rites Held For Ed V. Hoffarth
Former Resident of Hartford Township
As mentioned in last week's Leader, Edward V. Hoffarth of White Bear Lake, died Wednesday, June 8, at Terrace Estates Convalescant Home in St. Paul after an illness since December 1963. He is a former resident of Hartford township, Todd county.
Funeral services were conducted at St. Peter's Catholic church in Browerville Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m. with Msgr. E. Mohowold officiating. Serving as pall bearers were John Mikel, John Woell, Dean Carstensen, Herb Botz, Eugene John and Richard Irsfeld. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Edward V. Hoffarth was born in Long Prairie, August 26, 1890, the son of George and Mary (Hagar) Hoffarth. In 1915 he married Catherine Laumeyer, who passed away in 1955. They lived in Hartford township until 1949 when he retired from farming and moved to St. Paul where he was employed at the Glamos Wire Products Co., until he suffered a stroke in 1963. Mr. Hoffarth was clerk of the school board in District 35 Todd county, for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4184, West St. Paul, Minn.
He is survived by four daughters and a son, Mrs. N.J. (Jeanette) Sternal of White Bear Lake, Minn., Mrs. C.J. (Gertrude) Schaubach of St. Cloud, Mrs. E.J. (Julene) Koza of Bloomington and Mrs. William (Eva) Jeffery of St. Paul and Fred Hoffarth of Minneapolis, six granddaughters, seven grandsons and two great granddaughters.
