Marvin R. Godown
Marvin R. Godown, age 80, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on June 30, 2011, at 5 a.m. at his residence.

He was born July 7, 1930, in Darke County, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence Leroy and Mazie Mae (Norris) Godown.

He worked for Perfect Circle Dana Corporation for 42 years, and was a Neave Township Trustee for 32 years, took care of Oak Grove Cemetery for 25 years, helped start Tri Village Rescue and served on the board for the rescue, sold monuments for Edwin Nickol Monument Co. for 20 years, also worked at Walls Brothers Construction in Ft. Jefferson.

He was a member of the Greenville Moose Lodge #324; Greenville Fraternal Order of Eagles; Greenville Elks; and Fort Jefferson United Methodist Church for 49 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold, Esta, Clinton, and Kenneth Godown; sisters, Leona Fourman, Mary Holsapple, Velma Holsapple, Ina Boolman, and Opal Zeller.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Alice (Wogoman) Godown of Greenville; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Marcia Godown of Tupelo, Miss.; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Steve Kauffman of Pitsburg, Ohio, and Connie and Doug North of Arcanum; grandchildren, Kristina (Sean) Thornton, Trent (Lesley) Godown, Shelley (Scott) Robinson, Kayne (Natalie) Kauffman, Jason (Jessica) North, Rick (Becca) North; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Mae Christian of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Dough Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Lodge of Sorrow conducted by the Greenville Moose Lodge on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to State of the Heart Hospice, Fort Jefferson United Methodist Church, or Tri Village Rescue. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.zecharbailey.com.
