Darryl Leanda Brehon, 34, of the 2900 block of Victoria Ave., quietly and peacefully slipped away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000.
He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Azalea Gardens Junior High School and Lake Taylor Senior High School, where he participated in the basketball program and attended Norfolk State University. He was employed with A.M.E. Inc. and United Parcel Service for many years. He was a member of Garrett Community Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he participated in the Askew Youth Choir and Youth Usher Board. He was predeceased by his father, Benjamin A. Brehon, and his grandparents, Preston and Lois Cason, Hugh and Cornelia Paige, and Thomas Washington and Noah Biggs.
He is survived by his loving mother, Carolyn W. Brehon of Norfolk; his brother, Craig A. Brehon of Hampton; his uncles and aunts, Paul and Jean Johnson of Norfolk, Lawrence and Vanessa Collins of Norfolk, James and Audrey McCormick of Chesapeake, Leroy and Celestine Cason of Norfolk, Theodore and Yvonne Cason of Norfolk, Ernest and Evelyn Cason of Chespaeake, Marion Jordan of Norfolk, Yvonne Williams of Woodbridge, Va., Hugh Paige of Woodbridge, Hilton Paige of Washington, D.C., and Elsie Perry of Norfolk; his cousins, Janice Johnson of Annandale, Va., Paul and Adrian Johnson of Chesapeake, Michael Johnson of Norfolk, Michael McCormick of Chesapeake and Lawren Collins of Norfolk, Eleanor Hawkins of Virginia Beach, the Rev. Gregory Perry of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Howard and Rodney Perry, David and Cynthia Todd of Norfolk; his special friend and coach, Joseph Gorbea of Norfolk; and many more relatives, too numerous to name, and several friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon Saturday at Garrett Community Baptist Church by Bishop Johnnie L. Reid. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 2913 Victoria Ave., Norfolk. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
