Charles Oliver De Fosse, 81, Rt. 2 Mediapolis, died Thursday evening, Dec 17, 1992 at Burlington Medical Center.
The son of John T. and Lela Boyd De Fosse, and his stepmother Esther De Fosse, he was born May 7, 1911 at Muscatine. On Sept. 16, 1936 he married Alice Walberg at Mediapolis.
He was a farmer, and avid hunter and fisherman, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mediapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Mediapolis; three daughters, Elaine Lyman of Marengo, Marlene Fleming of Burlington, and Jeanne Kobus, San Antonio, TX; two sons, Donovan De Fosse and James De Fosse, both of Mediapolis; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, four sisters, Beverly Oakman and Carolyn Stephenson of California; Sonja Grubb of Colorado; Virginia Stoner of Humboldt; seven brothers, Ray, Gary, and Larry, all of California; Harold of Muscatine Hubert of Dyersville, TN; Carl & Gene both of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec 21 at 10:30 a.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul Frederiksen officiating. Music was provided by Joan Cling, organist, and soloist Jim Davis. Honorary bearers were Sam Gustafson and Earl Honson; casket bearers were Eric Fleming, Tom Fleming, Steve Reynolds, Dean Kobus, Jr., Bryon Schnicker, Larry Anderson and Brad Davis. Interment was in the Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis. Hagle & Hont Funeral Home, Mediapolis, was in charge of the arrangements.
A memorial for Immanuel Lutheran Church has been established.
