Bascom W. Johnson, age 82, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem, Virginia. He was born April 19, 1924 in Bristol, Tennessee to the late Henry R. and Annie Myers Johnson. He attended King College and was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army at Omaha Beach. He worked at Brunswick Corporation for over 40 years and retired in 1987 as Defense Contracts Manager. Mr. Johnson was a member of Marion Lodge #31 AF & AM, Marion Royal Arch Chapter #54 and Marion Chapter #72 O.E.S. He was a member of the Marion Baptist Church and had served as deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Victor M. Johnson and Bert Johnson and one nephew, Ed Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Haga Johnson of Marion, Virginia; two daughters, Jan Johnson of Roanoke, Virginia and Joy Johnson Bird and husband, Tom of Salem, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Helen Johnson of Bristol, Tennessee; two nieces, Erma Jones and husband, Stanton and Betty Lewis and husband, Allan; two grandchildren, Jennifer Bird of Salem, Virginia and Wesley Bird of Stafford, Virginia.

Funeral Services will be at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. Mark Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the Johnson Family.
