The funeral service for Marvin E. "Cactus" Stoehr will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, MN with Pastor John Fuchs officiating. Private family burial will follow the service in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of Potsdam in rural Elgin, MN .

Marvin Ernest Stoehr was born November 10, 1933 in Pleasant Hill Township, Winona County, MN to Ernest and Anna (Rott) Stoehr. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Potsdam, attended grade school in Olmsted County District Number 120 and graduated in 1951 from Elgin High School in Elgin. Cactus dairy farmed until 1985 at which time he began the Cactus Structure Service repairing Harvestors until the time of his death.
On April 23, 1966 he married Beverly Ann Furst at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, MN. The couple made their home in rural Elgin, MN. Cactus was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Potsdam.
Cactus enjoyed Old Time Music. He played with the Jolly Bohemians and numerous other bands early in his band career and later owned Cactus and the Jolly Brewers making four recordings with that band. He also had a three-piece band, Cactus and Friends, playing many nursing homes, parades, dance halls, and breakfasts throughout Southeastern Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly Stoehr of Elgin, MN; one daughter, Julie (Andy) Hart of Elgin, MN; two sons, Gene (Allison) Stoehr of Wykoff, MN and Marc (special friend, Jodi Price) Stoehr of Red Wing, MN; six grandchildren and one step-grandchild; his mother, Anna Stoehr of Elgin, MN; two sisters, Lois Neighbors of Emmetsburg, IA and Dorothy (John) Wood of Rochester, MN; one brother, Harlan (Marlene) Stoehr of Shoreview, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Stoehr, and one sister, Carolyn Ehler.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5th, at the Christian Life Center – Immanuel Lutheran Church, 45 West Broadway in Plainview, MN and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Potsdam or a charity of your choice.
