Janet Joan Allister, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died on December 19, 2009. She was 70 years old.
Janet was born in Dallas, Oregon in 1939. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold, when she was 16. Harold enlisted in the Navy and the two moved to San Diego, where Janet finished high school.

Aside from one year in Lake Elsinore, California, Janet spent the rest of her life in San Diego. She worked at a local phone company for several years. She then served as the church secretary at Calvary Baptist Church of El Cajon. Over the years she picked up a love for antiques, and after her time at Calvary, she invested a good deal of time in buying and selling old treasures. She rented booths in La Mesa and Ramona. Though living in San Diego nearly her entire life, her love and kindness helped to create a network of devout and lifelong friends throughout the country.

Janet's life was marked by a deep love for her family. She played an important role in the life of her husband, her three children, Lance, Shawna, and Devin, and seven grandchildren. Her lifestyle of kindness, along with Harold's deep commitment to her and their many children and grandchildren, kept the family close in many ways.
Her son Devin and his children, Gabriella, Seth, and Devin, lived on the same street as Janet. She helped the kids get ready every morning and drove them each to school. She picked them up from school and brought them home, where she'd make them snacks and listen to their stories about school, friends, and life.

Her daughter, Shawna, lived in San Diego as well. Janet loved visiting Shawna, her husband Tim, and their grandchildren J.R. and Chad.

She and Harold also made trips to Douglasville, Georgia, to visit their son Lance, his wife Shannon, and their children Raegan and Dylan.

Janet's love also extended beyond her family. She was an active participant and leader in Shadow Mountain Community Church's prison ministry.

She was preparing to celebrate her 54th wedding anniversary with Harold.
Janet's steadfast love formed a heritage of godliness in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Though she is with the Lord, her legacy continues in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is missed.
