ROBERTS
Ella Louisa Burley Roberts, daughter of Silas W. and Laura Dean Ryun Burley, was born in Wayne County, Iowa on August 21, 1890 and entered her eternal rest on Dec. 5, 1977 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 87 years, three months and fourteen days. She had been a resident of the Chariton Manor for the past year, entering the hospital three weeks ago.
On Oct. 18, 1911 she was united in marriage to William Ray Roberts at the Parsonage of the First Baptist Church of Chariton by the Rev. Hugh L. Moore. To this union three sons and one daughter were born: Raymond of Galesburg, Ill., Lester of Burlington, Vernon of Holland and Maysel Gartin of Chariton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors besides her children include: 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law, Dollie, Elaine and Viola Roberts; one son-in-law, Harley Gartin; four brothers, Jim Burley, of Chariton, Clarence Burley, of Council Bluffs, Ernest Burley, of Trenton and Carl Burley, of Des Moines, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Edward Quick officiating. Interment was in the Sharon Cemetery.
