He was born July 15, 1916, in Elwood, Ind., a son of the late William and Anna Klund Humerickhouse.
He was a graduate of Elwood High School, and was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater. He was stationed in Germany and was among the armed forces that participated in the Invasion of Normandy Beach. He was a recipient of several military awards, and recognitions. He had resided in New Castle for 49 years, and was retired from Delco Remy Corp. in Anderson after 39 years of service. He was a member of United Auto Workers Union 652, and a former member of the New Castle Evening Optimist Club. He was an active volunteer member of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as a Boy Scout Troup Leader of Pack 470.
He loved spending time with his family, and doing any type of family activity. He enjoyed time spent at the family cottage in Northern Indiana, nature, outdoors, pets, horses, and ponies.
He attended Foursquare Gospel Church in New Castle.
Left to cherish his loving memory include: his wife, Lucille "Lucy" Pierce Humerickhouse, whom he married Feb. 2, 1964; one step-son, Randy Cox (wife Karen) of New Castle; three grandchildren, Holly Miller (husband Brandon) of Columbus, Ohio, Kristin Owens (husband Josh) of New Castle, and Daniel Cox (wife Kelley) of Carmel; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Owens of New Castle, Mason Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Miller of Columbus, Ohio, and Mallory Owens of New Castle.
