George Ripley Robinson was loved by all those who knew him because he was, as one person said, a true "Virginia Gentleman". He had been a Civil War reenactor for over 40 years & was considered one of the finest.

His obituary reads:

"...He was born June 28, 1920 at his family's homeplace - Camp Lee Farm, near Midland, Va. Son of the late George Henry Robinson and Anne Lee Blackwell Robinson...

...Ripley had been a Civil War re-enactor for 41 years, starting with the rank of private in the infantry and continuing to the rank of General in the Army of Northern Virginia. He was well-known for his portrayal of Gen. Stonewall Jackson.

He was a member of the Fry-Kemper-Strother Camp in Madison, Va. and a member of the Stuart Mosby Society in Pennsylvania.

He was proud of his heritage as a descendent of the Lees of Virginia..."
