Dr. Julius C. Fitch was born 15 Oct 1841 in Fitchville, Huron, Ohio; the son of Isaac & Sarepta (Parker) Fitch. The family moved to Geneseo, IL in 1852, where he taught school one year, and studied medicine and earned a degree. He enlisted Co K 139 Illinois Infantry in 1864, serving Refugee Hospitals; was mustered out Oct 28, 1864. Dr. Fitch married Francis Smith Nov 14, 1867 in Illinois. They moved to Hastings, MN around 1870, where their first child, Frances Louise Fitch was born on Dec. 20, 1870. Dr. Fitch served as chairman of the Board of Education for ten years; also served as president of the board of trustees of Presbyterian Church. Julius died July 23, 1920 and Frances died 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio.
