She was born in October 1922 the daughter of Herbert and Ruth Johnson. After the death of her father, her mother married Walter Wissen and raised their children together.
She married Floyd Wissen and had two daughters, Linda and Sylvia Wissen. She then married Lyle Frank Horkey and had a son Richard in July 1946. Dorothy moved to Minnesota in the early 1950's and married Andrew Paul Amundson. They had one daughter, Charlene Sue Amundson, born in Heron lake,MN in October 1951. Charlene died in Belle Fourche,SD in 1987.
Upon Andrew's death, she moved to Colorado and married Donald Schultz in Colorado. Shortly thereafter they moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota, residing together in Rapid City, SD until her death from spinal meningitis in 1981.
