Capt. Clifford J. Durant, an employee with Jetson Correctional Center for Youth and a resident of Baker, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, in Baton Rouge. He was 51 and a native of Shreveport. He was a U.S. Army veteran, honorably discharged. Visitation at Miller & Daughter Mortuary, Zachary, and at New Hope Baptist Church, Zachary, until service, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Lewis. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Carol F. Durant, Baker; daughter, Charita Durant, Baker; mother, Betty J. Norris, Shreveport; sister, Mira and husband the Rev. Gregory Walton, Shreveport; brother, Cedric and spouse Nicole Davis, Warsaw, Ind.; mother-in-law, Josephine Monroe, Zachary; two sisters-in-law, Gretchen Monroe, and Dr. Greta Wilkes, M.D., and spouse Raymond, all of Zachary; brother-in-law, Donald and spouse Joyce Bates, Zachary; godchildren, Carra Stepteau, Baton Rouge, and Angelica Peterson, Zachary; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
He received numerous awards and certificates from Jetson Correctional Center. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
