Lois was born in Dorchester, Massachusettes, the daughter of James A. and Catherine M. (Gearin) Curley. She married Francis J. McCarthy, and they made their home in Norwood where they raised their family. After the passing of her husband, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by graduating from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. She passed away, and is survived by her children, Maryellen (Paul) Lanzilla of Medfield, Kevin G. (Alicia) McCarthy of New Zealand, Mark F. (Susan) McCarthy of Pepperell, Paul W. McCarthy and his partner Rafael Malka of NYC, and James B. McCarthy of Lowell; her grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Francis, Hannah, Kathleen and Liam; siblings, Kathleen Condon of Sharon, James R. Curley of CA, Lawrence J. Curley of Westwood and the late Mary C. Barrett; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Francis. Funeral services were held at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Norwood.
