John Melvin Cruse, 43, of Valley Bend and formerly of Rainelle, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 25, 2004.
He was born Nov. 19, 1960, the son of Margaret Gipson Cruse of Rainelle and the late John W. Cruse Jr.
John was an underground coal miner for 21 years where he worked as a roof bolter.
He was a member of the McRoss Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his father, John W. Cruse Jr., on June 5, 2003.
John was a loving husband, dad, son, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Deborah Owens Cruse; two daughters, Amber and Jonnie, both at home; his mother, Margaret Cruse of Rainelle; one sister, Judy Ballengee of Rainelle; and two brothers, the Rev. William Cruse and his wife, Patricia, of Danese, and Don Cruse and wife, Cheri, of Rainelle. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who dearly loved him and will miss him greatly.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel in Rainelle with the Rev. Kermit Hunter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his father. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers and nieces will lovingly carry his flowers. The release of white doves will symbolize his family's love in remembrance of him. Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
