John2, Robert1) was born Oct. 9, 1920, at Salem, Marion County, OR USA, to Lewis Sr. and Grayce Coe. He passed away March 29, 2011, in Portland, OR, after complications from a fractured hip. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Beverly. He attended Benson High School and while there became a paper boy for the Oregon Journal and enrolled in pilot lessons at the Swan Island airport. In 1944 he met his wife Betty on the "City of Portland" streamliner after a short R&R. They married in 1945 and spent the next 66 years together. After his active Navy tour ended, he joined the Navy Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. He enrolled at the University of Portland, graduating on the day of the Vanport flood, and was given the honor of presenting the class gift to the school which was a praying hands statue that remains on the campus to this day. He worked for Portland General Electric for 30 years. He and his father built an amateur radio with the call letters W7LVQ and he enjoyed talking with other ham radio operators all over the world.

He was a Mason and member of the Scottish Rite and Shriner organizations. He served as Associate Guardian of Bethel #1 while his daughter was a member. He was an active supporter of Boy Scout Troop 6, attending all meetings and campouts while his sons were members. He served as Deacon and Trustee and on many committees at Rose City Park Presbyterian Church. After retirement, golf and travel were his favorite pastimes.

He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
