SALEM - J. Arthur Stotler, 84, passed peacefully while surrounded by family at Salem Hospital. He was pre-deceased by his son, John, and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara; children Jo Ann, Carl, James, Tina; adopted daughter, Alitza and daughter-in-law Carol. He has 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Art was born in Crocker, MO. He attended Rolla High School then enlisted in the army, doing tours in the Philippines and Korea. He met Clara while serving and they married after his discharge.

Art and Clara Moved to California in 1950. After raising their family they retired in 1988 to Salem, OR. They became active members of the Newcomer's Club, where they joined the Pinochle Group that still meets to play. Additionally, they participated in the Grow and Show Garden Club. Art enjoyed creating furniture and toys at the Senior Center. They are members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Services will be held at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home in Salem on Tuesday, April 5th at 1 p.m.
