Nancy Lillard Coleman is the daughter of Colonel William Lillard and Rachel McCoy. Col. Lillard fought in the Revolutionary War and War of 1812. Nancy was married three times: Her first husband, Sandusky, died shortly after the birth of their first child. Her second husband, Joseph Allen, abandoned her before the birth of their only child. These children were Mary "Polly" Sandusky, who married James Lillard III, and Virginia Rose Allen who married Joseph H. Goodin. Nancy's third husband was Absalom Coleman, son of Spencer Coleman and Lucy White; Spencer was a private in the Revolutionary War. Nancy married Absalom about 1809. To this union were born nine children:

Chana Jane "Chancy" - b ca 1810 TN.
William Lillard - b ca 1810-15
Rachel R. - b 1815-20
James Merrill - b June 8, 1826. d May 24, 1913

Nancy's head stone was badly in disrepair when it was discovered. However, thanks to Marian Presswood of Polk County, TN, historical society, we were able to restore Nancy's grave at nominal cost and preserve the final resting place of this daughter of the American Revolution and Tennessee pioneer. Thank you Marian and God bless!
