Jackson,TN - Funeral services for Mrs. Syble Holt Plaxico, 87, will be Monday, November 26, 2007 at 1P.M. in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy Bedwell officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth National Cemetery in Corinth, Mississippi at 12 noon, Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 5 to 7P.M. at the funeral home with an Eastern Star service following the visitation.

Mrs. Plaxico died peacefully at home, November 21, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was born March 7, 1920 in Cherokee, AL to parents Jim Holt and Minnie Wright Holt.

Mrs. Plaxico worked several years in hospitals in Corinth, MS and retired from the Outlan Clinic in Collierville, TN. She was a Charter member of Byhalia, MS chapter of the Eastern Star where she served as worthy matron and in numerous other capacities. At the time of her death she was an active officer in the Henderson, TN chapter. She loved the Eastern Star and her knowledge of the work was awesome.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Plaxico, daughter Ann Mayo (Bobby) of Pinson, TN and son Benny Ballard (Debbie) of Jackson, TN. Beloved grandsons, Bob Mayo (Lisa), James Mayo (Vickie), David Mayo (Angela) all of Pinson, TN and granddaughters, Cathy Mayo Moore, of Malesus, TN, Chris Ballard Ohrey (Anthony) of Henderson, TN and Anka Ballard Witherspoon (Joe) of Jackson, TN. Brothers, Joe Holt of Cherokee, AL, Paul Holt and Frank Holt of Tuscumbia AL, Great Grandsons, Gary McKinnon, Jonathan Moore, Brandon Mayo, D.J. Mayo, Evan Mayo, Cody Witherspoon, Tristan McKinnon, Ethan Mayo, Great-granddaughters, Caitlin Witherspoon, Abigail Moore, Briley Mayo, Ella Mayo and great-great-grandson, Bryson McKinnon.

She was preceded in death my her first husband and biological father of her children, Fornie E. Ballard who died in France during WWII and her youngest son Fornie Larry Ballard who died September 3, 1998 of an Agent Orange illness following his service in Vietnam. Also preceding her was an infant grandson, Robert Lowrance Mayo, grandson Wes Ballard and granddaughter Lora Ballard, brothers Wilson Holt, J.R. Holt, James Holt, Johnny Holt, Dan Holt and Bobby Holt, sisters Doris Rickard and Gertrude Ballard.

Mrs. Plaxico was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and writing songs.

Pallbearers will be Bob Mayo, David Mayo, James Mayo, Anthony Ohrey, Jay Moore and Joe Witherspoon.
