William Ray Abell, age 82, of Reva, died on June 14, 2008 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on April 1, 1926 in Roley, Ky. to the late Eugene and Lucia Mann Abell.

Mr. Abell was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country in World War II. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the United States Government for many years. He was a very active member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was Chaplain for the Reva Fire Dept. and involved with the AARP. He taught Sunday School and was a substitute pastor for area churches. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, drawing, gardening, and doing crossword puzzles. Mr. and Mrs. Abell would faithfully visit the sick and elderly and were very devoted to their church and comm-unity. Their love for God and family were above all else. He was adored and will be missed by his children and grand-children.

He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia Abell Tran and her husband, Hai Minh, of Annandale, Susan Ray Izzie and her husband, Rudolph, Jr., of Reva, and Samantha Ray Abell and her husband, James Cunningham, of Alexandria, and one brother, John Abell of Campbellsville, Ky.

Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, Susan Levana Izzie, Rudolph John Ray Izzie, Nicholas Minh Abell Tran, Stefani Simone Smithers, Nathaniel Hai Tran, Clark Abell Smithers, Alexander Thein Tran, Dina Lee Palmer and her husband, Harold and Toni Rose Salvatore and her husband, Dave, and four great-grand- children, Steve Logue, Kiersten Palmer, Adison Salvatore, and Isabella Salvatore.

Mr. Abell and his loving wife, Dorothy Ray Abell, who preceded him death, are united once again in Heaven. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward Abell and Ceal Blair.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Adam Meisberger and the Rev. Jeff Light officiating. Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #330 and VFW Post 2524.
