She was a pioneer who came to Iowa from Indiana after the death of her husband in 1854. She was survived by three sons: Commodore Perry McQuiston, Silas McQuiston both of Collins, Iowa and James Melvin McQuiston of Jasper Co Iowa. She also was survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Hall, Mary Moll of Jasper Co Iowa and Martha McWherter of Collins, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband John in La Grange Co Indiana; a son William; and three daughters: Margaret Strang of La Grange Co Indiana; Julia Ann and Sarah Harris of Jasper Co Iowa.
