Maurice E. Fager, Jr. was born December 9, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Maurice Elsworth & Marjorie (Long) Fager. He was raised in Topeka, Kansas, and graduated from Topeka High School in 1961. He worked as a baker in Topeka until 1969 when he moved to Osage City, Kansas after getting married. He later divorced, and in 1979 he moved to Emporia, Kansas where he went to work for EVCO in the warehouse, retiring in 1998 due to poor health.
A.J. is survived by: a son, James Fager of Topeka, Kansas; a sister, Louise Branham of Oswego, Kansas; a grandson; and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, and stepmother, Dorothy Fager.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Kansas. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas, Friday, July 8, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Reed Hartford, First Christian Church, Fort Scott, Kansas will be officiating.
Memorial contributions to Emporia Friends of the Zoo may be sent in care of the funeral home.
