His nickname was BJ, but he preferred to be called John. He lived in Columbia State Park from age 8 until a boating accident in Tulloch Lake claimed his life. He was a very nice person who had many friends, and was always cheerful. He was an excellent swimmer. A month before his senior year was to begin, he and many of his friends were in a boat out for a day of water skiing. The boat was being turned around for a fallen skier when he fell out of the overcrowded boat, which ran over him. He will never be forgotten by his family and friends.

BJ, or John, as he preferred to be called, was named for his uncle, Bertram Kaylor, who passed away in Sacramento March 20, 1918 at the age of five months. He also had an aunt and uncle, Sonja Kaylor Sharp Johnson and Paul Kaylor.
