Ruth Morphew Gray, 92, of Greenville died Sunday in Wolfe City. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tidwell Cemetery under the direction of Rentfrow Funeral Home of Caddo Mills.
Born Aug. 24, 1907 in Hunt County, she was the daughter of E.B. Morphew Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Williams Morphew. She married William Clifford Gray on 1 Jan 1983.
Mrs. Gray is survived by a brother, T.K. Morphew of Greenville and a sister, Annie Jo Jones of New Braunfels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clifford Gray and brothers Wallace, Gilbert, Ferrell, Guy and E.B. Morphew Jr.
Bio: Ruth taught school at the Tidwell School. In later years she worked, keeping house for others. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. She was a Christian and a member of the Tidwell Baptist Church in Tidwell, Hunt, Texas. She spent each Sunday reading her Bible. She married William Clifford Gray in 1983. They were married only three years when he died. She said that they were the best three years of her life.
She loved to quilt and pieced her quilts by hand. She had them quilted by her best friend, Mae Gudgel of Bonham. She loved people, old dogs and flowers.
