Selma Hart Lawrence, 94, of Richmond and formerly of Norfolk, died July 4, 2011. A native of Lasker, N.C., she lived in Norfolk for more than 75 years. She attended the Norfolk Division of The College of William & Mary. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she taught sixth grade in the Norfolk City Public Schools. Mrs. Lawrence was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church and its Fellowship Class. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Linwood G. Lawrence Jr., and her elder son, Linwood G. Lawrence III. Survivors include her younger son, Barry R. Lawrence and his wife Sheila J. Lawrence; her daughter-in-Law, Cheryl S. Lawrence; three grandchildren, Linwood Grant Lawrence IV and his wife Rebecca J. Lawrence, Courtney E. Lawrence and Barry Ross Lawrence Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Linwood G. Lawrence V (Quint) and Sarah Rebecca Lawrence. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Park Place United Methodist Church. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
