WWII Navy vet, former co-owner of grist mill
Arnold G. Eves, 93, of Millville passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at Balanced Care of Bloomsburg.
He was born June 14, 1918, in Madison Township, a son of the late Paul and Margaret "Maggie" Hilner Eves.
He graduated from Millville High School in 1936 and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He worked at the Reese & Greenly Grist Mill and then he became co-owner of the grist mill in the late '60s. He had also worked for Girton Manufacturing.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Millville Lions Club, Millville American Legion Post 564 and the Millville Fire Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Melvin Eves, and a son-in-law, Lee Milroy.
He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Runyan, to whom he was married March 24, 1940; two sons: Gordeon Eves and his wife Michalene of Lititz, and Paul Eves and his wife Julia of Hardin, Ky; a daughter, Patricia A. Milroy of Millville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Arla Mae Miller of Millville, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 178 E. Main St., Millville, with his pastor, Ronald Montgomery, officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Millville Cemetery.
