Mr. Cyr was born to the late Alphonse and Martha (Michaud) Cyr. He was raised in Maine, and joined the military shortly after graduation from high school. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. Gilman married the love of his life in 1956. They relocated to Plainville, where they raised their loving family and shared more than 55 years together. Mr. Cyr retired from Pratt & Whitney after more than 20 years as a machinist. He remained proud of his military service through his membership at the American Legion, and was a frequent visitor at Mickey's AC and the St. Jean's Baptiste Society in New Britain. He leaves his devoted family with many cherished memories, and will be dearly missed.
