Coley Burell, 73, of George West, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Christus
Spohn Hospital, Beeville. Mr. Burell was born May 6, 1929, in George West to
Albert H. and Anna Mussman Burell. He married Carolyn Massey on July 6, 1982, in New Braunfels. Mr. Burell was a ranch foreman.
He was a member of Church of Christ. He attended First Baptist Church in George West. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he loved to work.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Burell of George West; a daughter, Shirley
(Robert) Gruver of Allen; two sons, Dale Burell (Danette) Burell and Robert
Burell, all of George West; a step-son, Leroy James (Kim) Phillips of New
Braunfels; a step-daughter, Melissa (Dave) Pelz of Dripping Springs; three
brothers, Hubert Burell of Uvalde, Hugo (Cornelia) Burell of Gonzales and Henry
(Mary Jane) Burell of Marion; nine grandchildren, Anna Melissa Bogle-Melendez,
Matthew Harris Bogle, Andrea Lynn Burell, Robert Burell Jr., Margarite Burell,
Bartholomew Burell, Daralyn Burell, Sarah Burell and Layne Phillips; two
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Friday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in George West
with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Burial was at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leroy James Phillips, Larry Massey, Marcelino Loza, Matt Bogle
and Bill Holland. Honorary pallbearer was Ike Houdmann.
