Loyed Leon Huddleston, 82, of Newton, died Monday, May 29, 1995 at 3:05 a.m. at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery in Rose Hill. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials can be made to donor's choice.

Huddleston was born Aug. 28, 1912 in Shumway, the son of William and Estella Carroll. He was adopted after his parents' death and raised by Carrie and Pearl Huddleston. He married Margaret L. Gosnell Aug. 22, 1931, and she preceded him in death.

He owned and trained thoroughbred race horses and owned Rose Hill Feed Store. He was retired from the trucking business and was a retired farmer. He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of Horseman's Benevolent Protection Association.

He is survived by two sons, Jack L. Huddleston, of Mahomet; and Joe G. Huddleston, of Mattoon; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Joyce) May, of Newton; one sister, Dorothy Thomas, of Dunedin, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, and one sister.
