Born to John Oscar and Ida Omelia Baine in 1907, Ernest had 3 sisters, Alma Lynn Talbert, Zera and Thelma Varner. Like his dad, "Dago" worked until retirement from the railroad. He was survived by his wife, Mineola,; two sons; James Ernest of Fort Worth and Donald G. Varner of Arlington, Texas; their wives and five grandchildren.
