In about 1894 Charles married Susie Colhouer and she died on 18 July 1904 in Grayson County, Texas. In 1906 he married Nancy A. Modrall.
Charles was survived by his wife, Nancy of Chelsea, Oklahoma and one brother, Henry E McConnell of Los Angeles, California. Charles had served as a Methodist minister and later as a Presbyterian minister for over a period of 40 years.
