Ada was employed over the years as a nanny, a housekeeper and a chambermaid. Much of her life Ada maintained the old Bessey family homestead in Hinckley with her sister, Leona. Ada loved to entertain and their home was the hub of visits from many family and community members. Ada was known for her talents in sewing, needlecrafts and baking, especially for her chocolate cakes and hermit cookies. She was always eager to babysit for her nieces and nephews.
Although Ada never had children of her own, she embraced each and every child of family and friends like a mother. She will be fondly remembered by those who knew her for her warm smile and loving manner.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Merl, Warren, and Stanley Bessey; and four sisters, Gladys Palmer, Delma Stewart, Leona Bessey, and Arah Sherrard.
Ada is survived by many nieces and nephews. (Morning Sentinel 4/10/2008)
