Charles Emery
Taken by Death
Charles Ervin Emery, 93, South
Clay street, died Saruday, May 1,
1971, at 11:00 A.M. in Villa Maria
nursing home. Mr. Emery, a re-
tired farmer and laborer, had been
ill since March 17, the day after
the death of his wife.
Born December 28, 1877, in Sen-
eca county, he was the son of El-
mer and Mary (Jopp) Emery. He
married Nellie M. Whiteman in
Green Springs in 1899. A mem-
ber of the Woodmen of the World,
he had spent his entire life in this
area.
Survivors are sons, Hollis G.
and Carlton E., both of this vil-
lage; Robert, Mentor, and Ben
D., Columbus; a daughter, Mrs.
Herbert Sheidler, Bloomville; a
brother, Fred L. Clyde; six grand-
children, and eight great-grand-
children. He was preceded in
death by his wife, five brothers
and one sister.
Funeral services were conduct-
ed by Rev. Robert Sayre in Eric
C. Young funeral home yesterday
(Tuesday) morning at 10:30, with
burial in Green Springs cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gale, Mitchell,
and Dana Emery, Don Hassel-
bach, Marvin Feindel and Ronald
Schubach.

Note: To be historically accurate I left the misspelling of Charles Ervin Emery as it was in the original obituary, it should have been "Charles Erwin Emery". Also, he was preceded in death by four brothers, not five, his youngest brother Fred was still living.
