Dean was born in 1923 in Maxwell, IA the only son of Ray and Beulah Howell. He graduated from Iowa State University in the Agricultural program and was employed by the University for many years. He loved golf, fishing and woodworking as well as caning and playing cards. He was a good dancer too! Dean will certainly be missed by all his family and friends in the Nevada and Ankeny area as well as his new acquaintances from the Quad Cities.

Dean is survived by his wife Maxine; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Fisher of Pleasant Valley, Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Susan Howell of Hernando, Mississippi; grandchildren; Karen and Thomas Pierce of Hernando, Mississippi, and Ben and Erica Fisher of St. Louis, Missouri; and great granddaughter, Emma Thibodeaux.
