Mr. William T. Campbell, age 81 of Vidalia, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in the Carl Vinson Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Dublin after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia, and retired from the United States Navy. During his naval career he was the recipient of numerous awards and metals, including the Bronze Star, the Korean Presidential Citation, Navy Occupation Medal, and completed eight consecutive Pacific Barrier Patrols. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Georgia Southern University, and taught Principles of Technology at the Vidalia High School for sixteen years, and retired from there in 1991. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Nadine Anderson Campbell in 2010.

Mr. Campbell is survived by two daughters, June C. Jones and husband John of Hilo, Hawaii and Carol Crosby and husband Berry of Vidalia; one son, William S. Campbell of Vidalia; two sisters, Barbara C. Wallace and husband Harold of Townsend and Theresa Harris and husband Billy of Vidalia; two brothers, Russell Campbell of Vidalia and Alfred Campbell and wife Lois of Greenville, South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Hughes of San Francisco; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
