Manetta A. Danielewicz, age 88, of Wausau, formerly of Thorp, passed away at her daughter's home on Thursday, May 5, 2011.

Manetta Anna Haas was born on April 16, 1923, in Thorp, WI, the daughter of George and Mary (Kocherer) Haas. She was raised in Thorp and received her education at St. Bernard's Catholic School.

As a young lady, Manetta worked at Blue Moon Cheese and also did domestic work in the Thorp area. She later moved to Chicago and worked in a factory for a short time.

Manetta was united in marriage on March 4, 1946, to Zigmund Danielewicz at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thorp. They farmed south of Thorp on the Danielewicz farm until 1957. They then sold the farm and moved back into Thorp where Manetta took care of her father.

She raised her family while working at the IGA Store and ITT Life Insurance Corp. for several years. Her husband, Zigmund, died on April 21, 2000. Manetta continued to live in Thorp until moving to Wausau in 2007 to live with her daughter Debra.

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary. Manetta had many interests, but especially loved bowling, crocheting, casino's, gardening and spending time with her family and grandkids.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Richard of Weston, Dale (Celine) of Wausau, Donald (Pam) of Thorp, Suzanne (Daniel) Somsen of New Richmond, Melissa (Randall) Maltbey of Janesville, Janet (Charles) Schulz of Greenville, and Debra Danielewicz of Wausau; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Zigmund; two sons, Gregory on June 12, 1990, and Dennis on July 31, 1993; two grandchildren, Chad Danielewicz on September 11, 2000, and Nicole Danielewicz on September 18, 2004; her daughter-in-law, Diane Danielewicz on August 8, 1982; three brothers, Conrad Haas, Bernard Haas and Leonard Haas; and three sisters, Margaret Budzinski, Annabelle Budzinski and Marcella Schultz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 9, 2011, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. John Mano will officiate and burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.
